Hope

Created as a tribute to Miyazaki's My Neighbour Totoro, after the appalling 2019 Black Summer bushfires in Australia. The prompt for this Inktober illustration was, 'Hope' and what can bring more hope than a nature spirit healing the land?
The reference is to the scene in the movie where the Totoros raise the oak trees from seeds to enormous towering giants in a matter of minutes, with the help of the children, Mei and Satsuki.
