Created as part of the Inktober 2020 challenge, the prompt for this illustration was, "Sleep". My own themes were also conservation, and this shows an extinct Tasmanian Tiger (also called the Tasmanian Wolf) at rest in death, dreaming of their former life. The small creature they are hunting is a bilby.
I drew this to appear that the skeleton lays on the curve of the earth and is exposed to starlight, but since the point of view is from the spirit, we see it depicted upside down, with their memories of life held within the earth.
The last known thylacine died in captivity in 1930 after bounties were placed on the animals to protect the sheep of white colonists, driving the already-endangered species to extinction.
